Welcome to our online Estate Planning questionnaire.

We ask you to provide some of your information online so that our expert lawyers can prepare ahead of your meeting and be ready to provide you with legal advice best tailored to you.

The process should take around 30 minutes to complete. If you need to take a break, there is a "save progress" button at the bottom of the Questionnaire. You'll need to click this to ensure no information is lost.

Privacy Policy:
Our easy online system is provided by Clio, a software that securely holds the information you provide. Answering the questionnaire doesn’t create a lawyer-client relationship between you and anyone. We won’t act for you, or prepare any estate planning documents for you, until you formally engage us. In the meantime, this system does not create 'informal' Wills — which in any event are risky and best avoided.

At The Estate Planning Centre we pride ourselves on providing holistic and individual advice that is grounded in a deep understanding of your circumstances and priorities.

When we meet with you in our initial conference, we will discuss your wishes with you in detail and provide advice including:
  • The appointment of a Guardian, who would take care of your minor children if you are no longer able to.
  • Options for providing long term care and support for someone who requires extra assistance.
  • Protecting your intended beneficiaries from legal claims that frequently arise when certain family members and ‘dependents’ are left out of a Will.
  • How we can structure your Will to fairly balance the competing needs and expectations of all your family members.
  • Methods to minimise taxation, including CGT and tax on Superannuation Death Benefits. We’ll also consider how income may be taxed in the hands of your beneficiaries, and options available to address that.
  • The steps that we can take to minimise the risk of litigation over your estate, which can turn very nasty if Wills are not expertly drafted.
  • The ways you can distribute your assets in your Will, to make sure that your intentions are adhered to.

We are interested to hear about anyone else who lives with you on a domestic basis, or has lived with you in the past. They could be a friend, relative or carer.

A person may be ‘financially dependent’ on you if they have received any gift, transfer or other financial support from you. Anyone who has a close relationship with you could be a financial dependant, especially if they have an economic need for support.

Examples include medical doctors, lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, architects, self-employed people or business owners.

Please fill out the below section as thoroughly as possible as a detailed understanding of the way that you hold your assets allows us to provide advice tailored to your circumstances and risk profile.

There are different types of superannuation funds, broadly speaking there are:
  • Self-managed superannuation funds (SMSF); and
  • Non-SMSFs.

SMSFs are usually set up by financial planners or accountants and are managed entirely by family members or an appointed corporate trustee.
Non-SMSFs are more common and include government, corporate, industry, public sector and retail funds.

Thank you for completing our induction process. We hope that it helped you to consider some of the key issues in your estate planning. The information you provided will enable us to provide you with the highest quality service.

We look forward to meeting with you in person, and we will be in touch to organise a time for us to meet.
